Hi All,

I am sure we would all agree that the 2011 Bay State Triathlon Team season was a success.   Looking back at some of the highlights which include 50+ members at races, a training weekend that could not have been better, the spin-a-thon,  many (many, many) successful member run training events as well as fun filled post race ‘gatherings’  and  team party’s. For those of you who were not able to attend some of these events---you missed out.  Clear your calendar for next year!  Next season promises to have more fun, training, giveaways, and - most importantly – racing!   Plans for the offseason continue to progress and the excitement for next season is already growing.    Many people made 2011 a great year for the team.  THANK YOU to all of the directors and volunteers who gave their time for the benefit of the group.

As always keep an eye on the forums, that’s the first place to look for training events throughout the offseason.   There is a Bay State mountain bike demo day coming up November 19th.  Check out the details on the forum.  Next year’s race series will incorporate a ‘double points’ race where extra credit will be given for participation and it will be followed by a family day at the beach with a BBQ and beach fun!

In 2011 the Bay State Age Group Championships moved to a new level.  The winner now receives a custom Bay State Age Group Winners bike jersey…bragging rights for a whole year!  This year many of the divisions came down to the last race and very few points! Remember you earn points by volunteering and racing.

Again, thank you everyone who gave of their time this year and thank you all who raced and trained with the team.  Bay State is a tremendous opportunity for us all and I, for one, appreciate it.

-Jeff Salmeri

Specialized Product Page

This is an excerpt from Slowtwitch.com

“But this bike—the Transition Expert—this is the sweet spot of the line-up. This is the bike worthy of immediate focus—because of a confluence of factors: It's the price point most triathletes are interested in; spec'd with the groupkit more triathletes want than any other; at a value no other company beats, among bikes spec'd with this groupkit.”

“This is the sweet spot in the Transition line-up. It's my guess that Specialized is going to run out of this bike before it runs out of anything else it sells to triathletes. Were I a Specialized dealer, I've had ordered deep and deeper in this model. Pallet after pallet.”

Anyone who cycles MUST HAVE their own Auto insurance to protect THEMSELVES in the event someone :

1) hits them, and/or

2) forces them off the road and they get hurt even without contact.  Simply, Part 3 and Part 12 of their auto policy needs to be no less than $100/$300,000 coverage.  This will protect the cyclist in the event the driver who caused their accident with injuries does NOT have insurance OR ENOUGH insurance to cover their injuries.  Part 6 – Med Pay coverage should be at least $10,000-$25,000.  The premium for that is about $15-$24, REGARDLESS if they have their own private health care coverage.  These coverages are a must.

If anyone has any questions,  I would be happy to sit down with them and explain it to them.  All this coverage MUST be on every car in the household without exception.  You can not have high coverage on your spouse’s car with minimum coverage on you car when you get hurt.  Coverage ONLY GOES to that car that you own.  Don’t skimp on coverage.

Sincerely,
